Swallows, human's long-time friends

Barn Swallow [Hirundo rustica]

What kind of old stories do you know regarding swallows?

Here are some examples...

A pair of swallows nesting in the house brings good luck.

Unmarried women who see a pair of swallows will marry in the same year whereas single men need to see only one swallow in order to have a bride.

Swallows stole fire from the gods and brought it to humans, losing the middle tail feathers in the process.

Devil burnt a swallow with a firebrand, marking the throat and forehead red.

The Snake in Eden had bitten out the middle part of swallow's tail.

Thor tore the swallow tail with a thunderbolt.
......

As swallows were living so close to humans, humans could not avoid being fallen into their mesmeric characters.

Sometimes human's imagination went too far and they even took nestilings' lives only to get a little stone, Chelidonius, for a remedy for epilepsy, speech problem, or various mental problems.

Nevertheless, swallows survived some naughty humans and they still come beack and take the benefit of building nests under human's protection. I hope to see more swallows next summer.

A sparrow in the air is the most hard to catch with a camera.

The following photos are still my best catches.

I really wanna make them flat (i.e., catch them as two-dimensional images) in the perfect condition.

One day, some day, I will!
