Brown-eared Bulbul [Hypsipetes amaurotis]

Brown-eared Bulbul [Hypsipetes amaurotis] is very common in eastern Asia. In my area, they are really thriving.

Today I found an interesting article involving this bird.

--> (SuetsuguK et al. Potential role of bird predation in the dispersal of otherwiseflightless stick insects. Ecology. 2018 Jun;99(6):1504-1506)

The Japanese researchers fed eggs from three species of stick insect to brown-eared bulbuls and checked their excretions (poops) a few hours later.

They found that between 5% and 20% of the eggs for each species, had survived. Some eggs even hatched.

This may explain the dispersal of this flightless insects between unconnected islands.
What a strategy!

Dying is not an end of life, for some creatures, it's a grand plan to send out their future generations in a two-winged bio-plane.
